Everyone did the same dance but we had to make it our own…The music was from Harry Potter. It was really good because it was quite spooky so we had to put a lot of character into it. We had to look quite magical so it was a magical dance. I love the music. It is really nice….Dancing is my passion. I would really like to dance professionally in the Royal Ballet

The Heats
Dedicated candidates (and parents) travelled all over the country to their respective heats performing in some of the UK’s finest regional theatres in Manchester, Birmingham, Woking and Weston-super-Mare. For the Harry Potter fans amongst the candidates, there was the added bonus of performing the variations to the well known John Williams’ scores.
The competition had the support of many renowned dance professional across the country, many of whom demonstrated their commitment by acting as judges at the Heats including David Nixon, Artistic Director -Northern Ballet Theatre, Pippa Moore, Leading Soloist - Northern Ballet Theatre, Desmond Kelly, Assistant Director - Birmingham Royal Ballet, Marion Tait, Ballet Mistress - Birmingham Royal Ballet, Stephen McRae, First Artist - Royal Ballet, Lauren Cuthbertson, Soloist - Royal Ballet, Francesca Filpi, First Artists - Royal Ballet and Mark Silver, Former principal - Royal Ballet.
Young dancers were led through an assessed class before performing the exclusive variations. Four candidates, two at each level, were chosen by individual judging panels across the country to go through to the Final.
